One of the first few books to introduce me to the business world was ' Rich Dad Poor Dad ' by Robert Kiyosaki. It taught the wonderful concept of Employee, Self Employed, Business & Investor. There is very thin line between Employee & Self-employed and Self-employed & Business. In Self-employed, the business is only as good as the employer or owner. If the owner is out, business is out.
In Business, systems are set. Systems are so set that even if some person is not there, the activities are carried on. When you are running a business, small or big - build it to last. Build the systems. Even if you are out of town for a week or two, it should run seamlessly. You can actually see that if you are absent, the employees are empowered and they feel the responsibility and your business may actually improve. If you have not taken any leaves, do it now. If you have not planned at all, then plan and take a week off. After you come back after a week, you will actually see what it looks like.
Investor is the stage next to that. They invest and mostly do not interfere in the day to day running of the business. Right now you are into business. So, try to build systems such that one day you can sell your company. If you build your company to sell, it will grow and sustain at much better pace.
